Venerdì 28 agosto sono stati assegnati i Gamescom Award 2026, i riconoscimenti che premiano i migliori giochi e le migliori presenze della fiera di Colonia, decisi tramite un mix di voto di giuria e voto del pubblico. Le 19 categorie erano suddivise in tre gruppi: ARTS, PLATFORM e GLOBAL.
CD Projekt RED è stata la casa più premiata insieme a Sega, con tre riconoscimenti ciascuna. Il publisher polacco ha vinto grazie a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered e alla DLC Songs of the Past, aggiudicandosi Best Trailer/Announcement, Best Merchandise e il Best Booth di giuria. Sega ha invece conquistato Best Audio con Alien: Isolation 2, Best PC Game con Total War: Warhammer 40.000 e il premio Best Lineup, assegnato alla migliore proposta complessiva di un publisher in fiera.
Capcom ha vinto due categorie con Onimusha: Way of the Sword (Best Gameplay e Best PlayStation Game), mentre Ubisoft ha ottenuto due premi con Rayman Legends Retold (Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game) e con il proprio Business Lounge (Best Business Booth).
L’HEART OF GAMING Award, il premio speciale della giuria, è stato assegnato a Games Done Quick (GDQ), l’evento di beneficenza basato sugli speedrun che ha già raccolto oltre 50 milioni di dollari; quest’anno l’organizzazione debutta in Europa proprio a Gamescom, dal 28 al 30 agosto, con i proventi destinati all’iniziativa Gaming for Democracy.
